The Italian online sports betting market closed 2023 with a 12.5% increase in GGR compared to 2022. The total GGR – as reported by Agimeg – was indeed about 1.5 billion euros compared to the approximately 1.3 billion of the previous year.
There was also a strong increase in the turnover, which rose from 11.1 billion euros in 2022 to 13 billion in 2023, thus growing by +15.1%.
The online betting operators
Lottomatica was the market leader, growing by 42.3% in one year and closing 2023 with a market share of 18.6% in terms of expenditure. Sisal and Snaitech were also on the podium, growing by +11.8% and +2.7%, respectively.
Excellent performances – as reported by Agimeg – were also recorded by Planetwin365 (+5.5%), E-Play24 (+26.6%), Scommettendo (+9.6%), Sportbet (+25.2%), ScommesseItalia (+22.9%), Staryes (+59.8%), Admiral Sport (+23.8%), Terrybet (+5.3%), Starcasinò (+44.5%), Giocondabet (+28.5%), and Leo Vegas (+14.3%). However, there was a market share drop for Pokerstars (-12.6%) and Betclic (-37.3%).
