Betting market has declined in Italy both in March and in the first quarter of 2024. The online and in-agency betting segments are suffering, with a negative sign in both cases. In particular, in the month just ended, online betting recorded a GGR of 143.6 million euros, down by -2.1% compared to the 146.6 million of March last year.
The quarter is also down. In fact, the market went from 456 million spent last year to 378.8 million in the first three months of 2024. The decrease was therefore -16.9%. Among betting operators, the market leader is Lottomatica, with a share of 19.5%, up by +15.4% compared to March 2023. Sisal (15%) and Snaitech (11.7%) are also on the podium. Also noteworthy are the positive signs of Planetwin365 (+5%), Eplay24 (+9%), Betaland (+15.3%), Scommettendo (+30.7%) and Replatz (+13.8).
Even worse was the performance regarding betting in the agencies, which ended the month of March with a GGR of 89.7 million euros, marking a decrease of -7.4% compared to the 96.9 million of March 2023. Also here, the January-March 2024 quarter is also decreasing: 230.4 million euros spent in the first three months of 2024 against 292.9 million in 2023 and a decrease of 21.3%.
Even in the agency sector, Lottomatica still leads the ranking of operators, with a market share of 33.1% of the GGR. Followed by Snaitech, up 3.8% compared to March 2023 and Eurobet. Excellent performances also for Betaland (+6.7%), Amiral Sport (+39%), Betitaly (+29.2%), Scommesseitalia (+18.8%) and Vincitù (+54.6).
